Precautions They Take in the Lab
In every freshman lab, there are a lot of safety measures that the students remain rather unaware of. The lad leaders are usually required to go over these safety measures with the students, but the students do not often pay attention to these lectures. Some people have suggested that the lab leaders have students sign a sheet about the safety procedures. Still, they tend to sign things without reading them. I personally think that the only way to ensure that kids know the safety measures is to test them on them. I give a quiz on safety in my lab. The things I want the kids to know about are fire blankets, eye wash stations and fire extinguishers. The fire blankets are very important in case there is a small fire on the worktop. Kids need to know where they are, since these are something that is used rather often.
