Making Sure Labradoodles Are Clean

Tuesday, December 27th, 2011

There are a lot of issues that a new dog owner might find they have to deal with regarding their dog and keeping their home and the dog itself clean, but with some tips and ingenuity it is not hard to figure out how best to make sure that everything’s stays as clean as it can when there are dogs running around the house. Generally, it is a good idea to have items around which are designed for the swift cleanup of urine accidents and one of the worst things a pet owner can do is not clean up urine right away.

When a person is able to actually get their hands on Australian Labradoodle puppies for sale, it is never certain whether those puppies will be potty trained before they leave their birth house. This means that the owner might be responsible for potty training the dog and this process will take a little bit of time so it’s important to be patient with the dog. The good thing about Labradoodles is that they are very receptive to learning when they’re young and so as long as the potty training begins when they are a puppy, they shouldn’t have any problem staying clean inside.

If an unfortunate accident happens with the dog urinating inside, the best way to clean it up is to soak up as much of the mess with a paper towel as it is possible and then sprinkle some baking soda over the area so that it absorbs everything that was left by the dog.

Some Fear, Answered in Raw Food Diet for Dogs

Monday, December 19th, 2011

Some people are not too sure if a raw food diet for dogs is indeed something that will be a good thing for their own pooches. There are a number of fears coming from dog owners that may be logical, but most of them are unfounded. One of these fears is that their dogs, once they adhere to a raw food diet for dogs will turn more carnivorous and will constantly crave for meat, including human meat. There is no scientific finding or any real-life experience backing this up. Moreover, some people think that dogs eating raw food will kill them as food bacteria like salmonella will be present in raw food. Simply put, a raw food diet for dogs does not mean that any kind of meat, as long as it is raw, can be fed to the dog. Letting a dog eat raw food still requires some standards to be followed.

Dog Breed Profile | the Spinone Italiano

Friday, November 11th, 2011

The Spinone Italiano, also called the Italian Griffon, is a rugged, medium-sized dog that stands up to 27 inches at the shoulder, and weighs between 61 and 85 pounds. These solidly-build dogs have a large, slightly elongated head, with a square muzzle, and prominent eyebrows. The other standout facial feature is the distinctive beard and moustache.

The coat is thick and wiry and can be white and orange, solid white, orange roan, or brown roan.

An ancient dog breed, the Spinone traces its history back to at least 500BC. However, various theories abound about the origins of the breed. Depending on who you listen to, the Spinone originated in ancient Greece, Russia, Italy, France or even Celtic Ireland.

In common with many European dog breeds, the Spinone was almost lost during World War II, but was brought back from the brink by dedicated breeders in its native land. It continues to be a popular hunting breed in Italy although it is quite rare elsewhere. The AKC recognized the Spinone Italiano in 2000.

While the Spinone Italiano is primarily a working dog, it also makes an excellent pet and companion. These dogs are affectionate, gentle and patient and just love interacting with humans and with other dogs. They have lots of stamina, and are quite playful, making them a good pet for an older child who understands how to handle a dog.

As with all dogs, the Spinone needs training, socialization, leadership and exercise. Their intelligence makes them relatively easy to train, provided you keep things upbeat and reward-based. Socialization is equally important because dogs that have not had the opportunity to interact with others tend to be timid.

Although the Spinone is not a dominant dog, it may develop behavioural problems if it does not get consistent leadership and direction. These dogs have bags of energy, so be prepared for a lot of exercise. The Spinone makes an excellent jogging partner, loves to swim, and enjoys a good game of fetch. It is best suited to an active, outdoor person or family.

When choosing a name for your Spinone Italiano, you may want to think about the breed’s Italian heritage. The easiest way to find great dog names is to visit a site like puppy names-hq.com, which has an extensive database of male dog names and female dog names to pick from.

The Spinone Italiano is a healthy dog breed that can live 12 years or longer. They are however prone to the two health problems that are the bane of many large breeds, hip dysplasia and gastric torsion.

Grooming a Spinone is easy, requiring only a weekly brush down. The coat will however require stripping every once in a while, to keep it in shape

Apartment living is not recommended for the breed. A house with a medium to large garden is a much better option, but your dog will still need daily outdoor exercise.

Non-Shedding Dogs – a Perfect Choice for Allergy Sufferers

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Is there really such thing as non shedding dogs? Technically there isn’t – all dogs shed at least some hair, although some do shed considerably less and these are referred to as non-shedding dogs or hypoallergenic dogs. These types of dogs still require brushing to stop them losing excess hair and shedding on the carpet, but they are ideal for allergy sufferers as they shed less of the allergy-causing protein that’s found in a dog’s dander (or dead skin and hair). Most non-shedding dogs are small dogs, but there are a handful of medium to large-sized ones as well. The most popular of these include the Yorkshire Terrier (the third most popular of all dog breeds), Poodle (also popular for creating designer dog breeds like the Labradoodle, Shepadoodle or Goldendoodle), Shih Tzu, smooth and wire-haired Dashschund, Maltese, Boston Terrier, Greyhound, Bichon Frise (like the Poodle, also popular for creating mixed breeds with hypoallergenic qualities), Norfolk Terrier and Havanese.

Large Cages Are Best for Chinchillas

Monday, November 7th, 2011

Chinchilla cages are usually large and consist of two or more levels. Because they are fairly active animals, especially during the night, they need a large cage to run and jump around. A chinchilla can jump up to 6 feet high and that is why a cage with several levels work best for them.

Of course, if you are keeping a chinchilla as a pet at home, you might not have the space for such a large cage. If that is the case, you can settle for a smaller cage but don’t make it too small either that your chinchilla hardly has any space to run about. Get a two level cage and in most instances, these are adequate for a chinchilla.

You can also get your pet out of the cage during the day for a little bit of exercise. Just monitor it closely when you let it loose inside your home so that it won’t end up chewing your household stuff during these times.

I Just Love Pet Products

Sunday, September 11th, 2011

I love pet products because there are so many to choose from, and I always feel good when I pick out the right ones. I guess that I have own so many pets already. I know that not every product is for every pet. Each pet has his own personality, and they like their own things. I don’t try to generalize my pets’ products because I know that I wouldn’t want to eat the same things or play with the same toys that other people want to play with. I totally understand how my pets work, and it makes me excited when I choose a new toy for them. I have tree dogs, and I never know who is going to like the toy. If they all like the toy, then that would be a great thing! I just know that there are so many things in life that I enjoy, but my pets are what I enjoy the most.

My Sister's Dog Has Dog Mites

Monday, August 22nd, 2011

Sometimes I wonder why I say yes to certain things. I live in a townhouse, and I am a bachelor. I have a certain way that I like to keep my townhome, and I strive hard to keep it nice and clean and orderly. I do not have any pets, and I never allowed people to stay more than one night in my townhome. However for some reason when my sister called me and asked me if I could watch her dog for her while she and her family went on vacation, I said yes. I do not know what in the world came over me, I should’ve just said no. However since I said yes I am right now spending my mornings taking this little mutt outside to go to the bathroom. Coming home during lunch to make sure that this mangy dog is okay, and now I have to take this dog to the vet because it has dog mites.

An Unusual but Helpful Gift

Monday, August 15th, 2011

I had heard that one of my friends had recently gotten two puppies from their uncle. I called to see if it was alright with them if I came over to pay the puppies a quick visit. Since I have had a dog before I brought my invisible dog fence. Since my dog had passed away years ago, I decided to give them the invisible dog fence as a gift to the new puppies. When I first got down to them I saw the cute new born puppies and they were absolutely adorable. My friend told me that she had some trouble keeping them within the area of their house. So I introduced them to the invisible dog fence and told them how this could help them. After a few days my friend called me to tell me how much discipline the puppies had learned because of this invisible dog fence.

How to Train a Dog

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

It is fun to have a dog especially when you have a therapy dog. The only question is, do you know How to Train a Dog? I know that beginners or inexperienced people may say “It is easy to train. I don’t need assistance from “How to train a dog” articles and videos, and dog trainers.” Trust me, you need to read some articles and watch videos related in training dogs. Indeed, it is fun and easy sometimes to train a dog. The only thing that you may find it hard during training is the mood and temperament of your dog. At first, you need to control the environment around you during training and the preferred place is in the quiet room. When your dog is already calm, then you can start training your with some basic obedience skills like sitting, standing, etc. It is better to train a dog on your own than letting them trained by a dog trainer.

Dog Names and Dog Training: Myths You Need to Dispel

Saturday, July 2nd, 2011

Can’t wait to train your dog how to behave and learn new tricks? Good to see you two are so enthusiastic. To that end, here are some dog training myths you need to dispel to help you teach your dog even better and faster.

Myth #1: You cannot train your dog when she’s still very young.

You can actually train your dog at any age. You can even start training your dog as early as 6 months old.

Myth #2: Dogs should never be disturbed when they’re eating else they will get mad and bite.

Did you know that you can train your dog not to bite every time he gets disturbed? HINT: The technique to use is to frequently disrupt her during her meal time by giving her a treat. She’ll see nothing happens to her food and learn to relax.

Myth #3: The only way to discipline your dog is to hit him when he does something wrong.

Never ever hurt your dog through hitting him just because he did something bad. This kind of training should never be done. You get better results by making dog training as fun as it can be.

Never fail to take note of these points. Sometimes when reading books on dog names and dog training, you may get information that may not be true or just plain wrong. Coming up with a great name and getting a well trained dog who is a delight is easily attainable.

Bringing home a guinea pig or cavy for the first time come a question of how to care a guinea pig at home. Researching on the internet on information on how to or some basic guinea pig heath care guides. The results are too many and you do not know where to begin.

Guinea pigs are fragile pet but easy to take care of. Using Pet Shampoo

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

Pet shampoo is an interesting topic because I never know what kind of shampoo to use. I do not know if you are supposed to be using regular human shampoo or ones specifically designed for pets. I know that when I was little I got a magazine for horses and they had this special horse shampoo that I know was actually cool to use on humans. I do not really know whether or not it would be okay to use for my personal self though because I am simply really picky about what products I use for health and beauty. One time we tried to bathe my dog and we had to buy a kiddy pool because he kept jumping out of the bathtub. We didn’t know what to do in order to get our dog clean so normally we have to take him to the groomer. That is really expensive and it would make more sense just to invest in some quality pet shampoo.

Found Him Outside

Monday, April 4th, 2011

I found the oddest thing outside on our porch, it was this really small dog, and I didn’t know what to do about it, but I couldn’t let him go back out, he already looks like he hasn’t had a good meal in the longest time, I took him in and fed him and when he was done eating he laid his head in my lap and would continuously pat my hand with his paw to see that I was still there. I decided to keep him at that time, I couldn’t go without this little cute ball of fuzz. Thankfully I found this great website that offered me the option to buy small dog beds, which I took up in a second, the vet said we can catch him up to where he needs to be but he needs to feel like he’s at home, and what better than his own personal bed, he’s already starting to grow! So at least I know I can use this website to get a bigger bed with the time comes, and I already hear it knocking!
